Astrea Academy Sheffield is committed to developing the whole child and our curriculum has been shaped around this belief. We believe our scholars are entitled to a curriculum and extra-curricular provision which offers them chances to do things they might have never done before. Scholars have regular opportunities to voice their opinions on our club offer and put forward their own ideas, which have shaped our provision.
Our extra-curriculars are all non-fee paying, including our external offers, to ensure accessibility for all of our scholars, with some relying on sign-up systems to promote responsibility and commitment, and some operating on a drop-in basis to fit flexibly to the needs of our scholars and families. For some of our clubs such as guitar and drama, scholars work towards in-school performances like our end of year showcase, whilst some of our sports clubs allow scholars to represent the academy in fixtures such as football and cross country.
Our extra-curricular provision is an added quality and offer that we pride ourselves in at Astrea Academy Sheffield. Our club offer is wide-ranging, categorised into sport, academic, creative, wellbeing/life skills, and catch-up sessions. This range of categories allows scholars to nurture different abilities and passions, as well as supporting their academic attainment and giving opportunities for volunteering and boosting career prospects.
