Two Astrea Academy Sheffield Sixth Form students are celebrating after being awarded a silver certificate in a subject competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Mussab and Azaan, who are both in Year 13 at Astrea Academy Sheffield, took part in the RSC Chemistry Olympiad 2026 for students over the age of 16.

The competition is designed to challenge students to apply A-level knowledge to real-world problems, helping to foster critical thinking.

Mussab and Azaan demonstrated excellent subject knowledge and were ranked in the top third of students nationwide.

The Year 13 students, who will be sitting their A-levels in the coming weeks, were very proud to receive a silver certificate in recognition of their success.

Gemma Driver, Head of Sixth Form at Astrea Academy Sheffield, said: “We are very proud of Mussab and Azaan for this strong performance and achievement.

“At Astrea Academy Sheffield, we know that giving students the opportunity to enter competitions like this is an important way to help them develop a love of their chosen subjects and achieve academic success.”

David Boyd, Principal of Astrea Academy Sheffield, added: “Congratulations to Mussab and Azaan for their outstanding achievement in this year’s RSC competition. This success reflects not only their hard work but also the strength of our academy’s relentless commitment to excellence every day.”
